Accessibility Statement

Our commitment

Estate Sale Gnome is often used by people in stressful circumstances — settling an estate, downsizing a parent, working against a moving date. Accessibility barriers are the last thing anyone needs on top of that. We build this site to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA and to align with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. Accessibility is tested as part of every deployment — it is a release gate, not a launch-day checkbox.

Conformance status

This website substantially conforms to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Our testing methodology on every deploy includes:

  • Automated WCAG checks (axe-core) across every page in the sitemap
  • Color-contrast verification at the design-token level, so no foreground/background pair can fall below WCAG floors — 4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text and UI accents
  • Keyboard navigation: every interactive element reachable and operable without a mouse, with visible focus indicators
  • Screen-reader semantics: landmarks, one h1 per page with no skipped heading levels, labeled form fields, alt text on meaningful images
  • Motion respect: prefers-reduced-motion disables animation and smooth scrolling
  • System settings respect: dark mode (prefers-color-scheme) and Windows High Contrast (forced-colors) supported
  • Printable pages: legal and receipt pages print cleanly in black-on-white with visible link URLs

Known limitations

  • Cloudflare Turnstile — the bot-protection widget on our contact form is a third-party component. We use its accessible, non-interactive mode wherever possible, but its internals are Cloudflare's to fix. If it blocks you, email us instead: [email protected].
  • External marketplaces — listings we publish end up on eBay, Facebook, Craigslist, OfferUp, and similar sites whose accessibility we don't control.
  • The application dashboard (behind login) is in active early-access development; it is tested against the same standards, but new features may briefly ship with rough edges. Report anything you hit — it gets fixed with priority.

On request, we'll provide any content on this site — including receipts and sale records for account holders — in large print, plain-text email, or accessible PDF, within five business days.

Escalation

If a report isn't handled to your satisfaction, escalate to [email protected] with subject "Accessibility — escalation". Escalations are acknowledged within five business days and answered substantively within fifteen.
