Privacy Policy
Last reviewed: August 15, 2026 · Applies to estatesalegnome.com and the Estate Sale Gnome service.
Estate Sale Gnome is operated by Gnome Ventures, a United States company, for users in the United States. This policy says what we collect, why we collect it, and — just as important — what we don't do. It's written to be read, not skimmed past.
What we collect
- Contact information you send us — name, email, phone if you include it, and whatever you write in a contact or early-access form. Used to reply and to set up your account.
- Your sale content — item photos, appraisals, listings, prices, and sale records you create in the service. This is the product working; it exists so your sale can run.
- Basic site analytics — privacy-focused, cookieless page analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics) and standard server logs (IP address, page requested, browser type) used for security and performance. We do not run advertising trackers.
What we do with it
- Run your sale: appraise your photos, generate listings, track inventory, produce receipts.
- Reply when you contact us, and administer early access.
- Keep the service secure, debug problems, and measure that pages load properly.
What we never do
- We do not sell your personal information. Not to data brokers, not to advertisers, not to anyone.
- We do not use your photos or sale data to train public AI models. AI processing runs to serve your sale, not to build datasets from it.
- We do not send marketing texts or robocalls. A phone number you give us is used to reply to you about your inquiry or account.
- We strip hidden photo metadata. GPS coordinates, camera identifiers, and timestamps embedded in your photos are removed automatically before photos appear anywhere public — protecting your address by default.
If you contact a seller about an item
This section is for buyers — people who use the “ask about these items” form on a seller’s storefront. Everything above describes the data of sellers who run sales here; the form makes you a different kind of person to us, so it gets its own explanation.
- What you give us: your name, mobile number, email address, the items you ticked, and anything you write in the message box. All of it is optional in the sense that nobody has to use the form — but the form cannot be sent without a name, mobile and email, because the seller needs a way to reply.
- Where it goes: straight to the seller running that sale. They receive it by Telegram, by email, or both, depending on how they set up their account, and it is stored with their sale records so they can find it later. The seller — not us — is the person who will contact you.
- What we keep separately: your IP address and browser identifier, briefly, to stop the form being abused to flood a seller with fake requests. That is not shown to the seller and is not included when they export their records.
- What we do not do: we do not market to you, add you to a mailing list, sell your details, or use them for anything other than delivering your request to that seller.
- How long it lasts: for as long as the seller’s account does. When they close their account, their records — including your request — are deleted from the live service, and backups age out on a fixed schedule afterward.
- If you want it removed sooner: ask the seller, or contact us at the address below and we will remove it.
Sellers agree to handle what you send them lawfully, and specifically not to use it for marketing, automated texts, or robocalls. If a seller contacts you in a way you did not ask for, tell us — we can act on their account.
Service providers
We use a small number of infrastructure providers to run the service — content delivery and security (Cloudflare), AI processing for appraisals, and email delivery. Each receives only what it needs to perform its function for us, and none may use your data for its own purposes.
Transactional email (receipts, account messages, replies) is part of the service. If we ever operate a marketing list, it will be opt-in with working unsubscribe links, consistent with the CAN-SPAM Act. We don't buy lists and we don't share yours.
Retention and deletion
Your sale content stays as long as your account does, so long-running sales keep their history. Close your account and your content is deleted from the live service; export your inventory and records first if you want copies — they're yours. Backups age out on a fixed schedule afterward.
Children
Estate Sale Gnome is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them (COPPA). If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit (TLS), access to production systems is restricted, and account credentials are never stored in plain text. No system is perfect; if a breach affecting your data ever occurs, we'll tell you what happened and what we're doing about it.
Your choices
- Ask what we hold about you, ask for a copy, or ask us to delete it: [email protected].
- Close your account at any time — see "Retention and deletion" above.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the "Last reviewed" date above changes with it and account holders are notified by email. We won't quietly rewrite the promises on this page.
